Tonglu Osmanthus Garden is located in the heart of Jiangnan New District of Tonglu with green hills surrounding. With a natural 5700m2 lake inside the community, it enjoys great natural advantages. Our plan separates the pedestrian traffic from motor vehicle traffic. A north-south main driveway runs through the whole community and connects each cluster. Motor vehicles enter the underground garage at the entrance of each cluster. The pedestrian-only system is applied inside each cluster. The layout design inside the community is rather flexible. While drawing attention to the independence of each cluster, our design also emphasizes the sense of enclosure inside each cluster and the sense of rite at the entrance of each cluster. With the goal of developing a low density, low plot ratio and high green coverage ratio large scale modern community, the property types include mostly low-rise buildings, high-rise buildings and one-storey mansions with small amounts of townhouses and stores. The architectural form adopts Mediterranean style with more rigorous approaches to volume, scale and proportion. The color scheme is also more subtle and steady.
