Sun Moon Bay is located in southern Wanning, close to Xinglong Tourist Area and Shimei Bay Tourist Area in the north and adjacent to Qiexin Natural Reserve and Perfume Bay of Lingshui County in the south. The project consists of a “Sun Island” and a “Moon Island”, named after the meaning of “to shine forever like the sun and the moon”. As a critical comprehensive project along the eastern line of Hainan Province, Sun Moon Bay is positioned as a high-end residential, tourism and leisure island integrating tourism, resort, leisure and shopping functions and supported by extremely superior tropical beach landscape.

Its entire design focuses on fully utilizing seascape. A point/sphere-combined organic layout is adopted to maximally utilize seascape while making some changes to overall form. The heartland commercial street and hotel are enclosed into a richly-layered ocean theme park through a reasonable layout, thus enhancing fun experience. Individual buildings are also fully combined with seaside geographical characteristics to shape extended forms with multi-level horizontal lines, echo with the sea and create a sense of flow in stillness.

The design team takes “sea viewing” as the source of inspiration for the entire project, conducts a detailed study on site, landscape, behavioral mode and many other contents from the very beginning, and has implemented this idea in various links of design to truly realize the perfect integration of architecture and site and the organic combination of external natural resources and internal artificial environment. This idea is a key factor contributing to the success of this project.
