The Sky Villa represents a collaborative research initiative between GOA and Greentown China, focused on exploring the incorporation of sky gardens in high-rise residential buildings. The completed prototype is an exemplary model of sustainable design, presenting a new paradigm for coexisting human and natural habitation. The design features a three-dimensional courtyard arrangement, embodying the idea of a "single four-story building with seven courtyards situated in a nine-acre garden." This approach integrates a comprehensive green system into the vertical space. The residential cells strike an ideal balance between interconnectedness and independence by employing split levels and duplex design. Landscape elements extend from the courtyards to the facade, creating an eco-circular system while providing natural sceneries throughout all seasons.

The design implements advanced structural techniques to achieve extending cantilevers. This not only accentuates a lightweight elegance but also creates large sky terraces and transitional areas that blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces. As a result, residents are presented with numerous opportunities to interact with the surrounding natural environment. Expansive, column-free spaces, open corner glass doors and windows, and 270° uninterrupted glass curtain walls contribute to the seamless integration of interior and exterior spaces and optimize interior luminousness, greatly improving overall living comfort.

In 2022, the Sky Villa attained LEED v4 Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and WELL Gold Certification from the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI).
