The project is located in the Old West Gate area of Shanghai. The “Old House” on site, as an imprint of urban development, is a historical element that has attracted much attention. Starting from this, the architect takes “Old House: Deposit and Re-vitalization of Shanghai Metropolis” as its concept, draws inspiration from the eclecticism style prevailing in the 1920s and 1930s, and uses the design techniques and new materials of modern buildings to inject vitality into the old city area.

The image of the main tower transmits a strong sense of order. The tower uses glass and stones as main materials, and adopts a vitality and reality-combined design to not only meet the lighting demand of actual interior service but also present rich layers on the façade. The street-front stores have also inherited the same façade style. In the design of major areas such as street corners and residential quarter entrances, the architect uses colors and decorations of traditional cultural tastes to improve the identifiability of the community in urban areas. This design attitude of combining the old and the new and incorporating things of diverse nature has perfectly integrated history and trend here, and the entire base fully embodies the tolerance and innovation of Shanghai style.

The overall layout of the project follows the principle of people-oriented sustainable development, and focuses on creating high-quality ecological environment and rich urban landscapes. The organic spaces formed through the combination of square and greening landscape is better adapted to the fashion and aesthetic demands of modern people. The tower presents an axial symmetry on the general layout, and leaves a powerful visual impression.
