Wangjiang Center TOD is situated at Wujiang Road station of Metro Line 1 in downtown Hangzhou. Due to its proximity to Qianjiang New City, it serves as the gateway to the future financial and technology axis. Under a controlled FAR of 3.8, the project achieves a symbiosis between an urban complex, a rail transit line, and compact communities under restricted conditions, resulting in a high-quality development that combines commercial, office, and residential programs.

The design utilizes a transfer truss to suspend the main tower structure above the existing metro entrance and ventilation pavilions to address the limited construction land area. The commercial podium incorporates the metro station's entrance and a large-scale farmer's market as a hub of social connection and food supply for nearby communities. A sunken courtyard at the station's exit marks the beginning of public spaces. It connects to stairs and podium terraces and guides visitors along a spiraling path to a sky lounge between the commercial and office sections, inviting them to unwind and appreciate the panoramic vistas.

The building is designed with a beveled V-shaped volume to ensure ample sunlight access for itself and neighboring residences. Its verdant terraces and roof gardens provide a fifth façade that, along with the lush sunken courtyard, improves the urban microclimate of a high-density district.

As one of the limited Chinese TOD initiatives that convert existing metro facilities, the Wangjiang Center is instructive for urban revitalization and similar developments in future high-density built environments.
