Poshan Old Street sits at the heart of the Kun’ao Link Zone in Pingyang. For centuries it has served as the north–south spine of the county and a vital corridor between Wenzhou and Fuzhou. More than a weave of lanes and buildings, the street’s fabric is the carrier of Poshan’s collective memory. In planning and design, safeguarding the integrity of this urban grain was paramount: architecture and scenes of daily life from every era have been protected so that old and new converse within the same historical continuum.

The renewal strategy is point-based, focusing on key nodes: the Tongfu Gate cluster, reconstruction of Zhengzhen Temple, revival of Xingshu Plaza, reinstatement of a terraced viewing residence, a hillside teahouse, the Dangyangli Park visitor center, a boutique hotel, and the refurbishment of residential façades along the street. Each intervention maximizes the use of existing resources and preserves the mountain-forest character of the site. By adopting compatible spatial scales and courtyard-style organizational patterns, the design delivers an unmistakably local experience.

Since the first phase opened at last year’s National Day holiday, Poshan Street’s commercial mix has been revitalized within its new spatial framework. It has already become a landmark that integrates culture, tourism, and leisure.
