This project is located in the north zone of Cixi Cultural and Business District. The site is next to a green space along a river on the south, adjacent to Xincheng River on the east, a future city road on the west and a major city road on the north with a greenbelt in between.

The client wants to create a traditional-styled recreational center among the towering buildings in the middle of the business district. The center provides restaurants, banquet, guestrooms, café, a diverse of recreational facilities and a cozy courtyard with lake view.

The main entrance is at the middle section of the site; the restaurants and banquet rooms are on the north; while the guestroom area is on the south. The recreational and fitness facilities are placed on the underground level. The buildings are organized around the landscaped courtyards with the massing staggered and interwoven with the water system. The entrance area is located at the center of the south-north courtyards. The cross-shaped lobby corresponds to the north and south courtyards, the entrance porch and the lake view on the west. It also has an enclosed light well at the center. From the main entrance, guest arrival area to the reception hall, and across the light well, the view would extend to the water-reflected lake, the greenery and the urban landscape, following the main axis. The café and the western cuisine restaurant on the two sides of the entrance axis open up towards the north and south courtyard landscape, and create the north-south spatial axis. The cross-shaped layout dominates the overall architectural layout, which becomes a major component of the urban landscape.

Most of the buildings are single-storeyed, and some are two-storeyed. Borrowing from the traditional garden layout, the staggered buildings combining with the rich landscape create multi-layered small-scaled garden spaces. The functional spaces are distributed among scattered buildings which are connected by the verandas. The buildings have simple grey four-sided sloping roofs, solid wooden colonnades, doors and windows, light-colored stone exterior walls. There are also a lot of semioutdoor spaces. The traditional architectural space layout combining with the modern construction techniques and materials create a stylish resort and recreation place.
