With the renovation of Longwu Tea Village, Hangzhou West Lake No. 1 Experimental School, located in Longwu Town, Xihu District, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, will be relocated to the new campus from the original dilapidated one.

The new campus, covering an area of 63,000 square meters, is divided into east and west parts, with 18 junior classes in the west and 36 primary classes in the east. The entrances of the junior school and primary school are situated in the south and north respectively, making the two schools relatively independent while sharing resources. The planning structure adopts a precisely enclosed courtyard design with axis alignment between the buildings. A series of courtyards with diverse and orderly spatial levels, are connected through the school squares, activity courtyards and central gardens, thus forming a school full of cultural atmosphere prevailing in regions south of the Yangtze River.

The facade details adopt a new Asian architectural style. The overall architectural designer considers to combine the traditional forms with modern materials by abstracting and refining the traditional facade elements, and adding modern elements, to retain Chinese elements and exquisite beauty in details. This building emphasizes the harmony and proportion of details, and its horizontal opening scale makes it light and full of the charm of architectures in regions south of the Yangtze River. The embellishment of the moldings further diversifies the user-friendly building design.
