On February 20th, the successful completion of the first pile construction for the relocation project of the "Hangzhou Dajiangdong Civic Center" marked the full commencement of the project. The conceptual design by goa Elephant Design stood out in the previous bidding process, securing the project's design rights. The newly built civic center will not only enhance administrative service efficiency in the Dajiangdong area but also become a new landmark of Qiantang District, narrating the unique regional story of Dajiangdong to the world.

During the creative process, the design team delved into the cultural characteristics of the Qiantang region, skillfully integrating natural landscapes with modern architectural concepts. The building's fluid and dynamic form features sweeping curves that echo the majestic waves of the Qiantang River tidal bore, imbuing the structure with a sense of vitality. The curved platform at the base resembles the surging foundation of the tide, strengthening the connection between the elevated layer and the ground level while providing an open and inclusive public space for citizens. The tiered double-height atriums in the tower section evoke the advancing layers of the tidal bore, showcasing the rhythm and beauty of the waves through both the facade and the floor plan, achieving a logical unity in the architectural language.

As the first project to commence construction in the new urban district, the Dajiangdong Civic Center serves as the gateway to the entire "New City Living Room" and is the centerpiece of Qiantang District’s Jianghai Business Center. Located in the Jianghai City sector of Qiantang District, adjacent to Jiangdong Avenue, the project is positioned as a development pioneer in the area, rooted in Eastern Hangzhou and facing the Bay Area. The consortium of goa Elephant Design and gad Design secured the design contract for the entire Jianghai Business Center in 2024.
