The Century Land sits in the heart of the largest commercial district in southwest China, Guanyinqiao, Chongqing, adjacent to Jialing Park. It is a comprehensive urban development featuring a mix of commercial, office, and high-rise residential buildings.

The design fuses the taste of city life within a particular regional context. It divides the area into multiple platforms of differing heights to accommodate the nearly 13-meter elevation change from the site's southern to the northern border. Gestures of stacking, dropping, and staggering generate clusters of dispersed volumes within an organic architectural form, imbuing the distinctive "Mountain City" morphology with a contemporary reimagining. The cascading terraces transform the site's topographical challenges into a collection of rooftop gardens, creating an enticing slow pathway that ascends and winds through the landscape. Meanwhile, the underground commercial street directly connects to the metro station, assuring rapid and efficient circulation for heavy pedestrian flow traversing the various land parcels. Consequently, this 3D-integrated pedestrian system integrates functional and landscape values, maximizing TOD benefits while preserving the vitality of the urban core.

To navigate the intricate road networks, commercial and residential volumes feature filleted corners to avoid sharp edges that point toward the streets. Such an approach is applied to the residential façade to accentuate visual integration. Celebrating the contemporary aesthetic of a flourishing city, the dynamic horizontal rhythm of the facade is complemented by continuous vertical lines that enhance the upward movement of the residential volumes. In addition, the commercial façade is embellished with glass elevators and perforated panels to enrich visual expressions.

The project accomplished a collaborative and cohesive approach from the early stages, incorporating interior, landscape, curtain wall, and lighting. This comprehensive strategy results in integrated design practice for mixed-use development projects.
