This project is an exterior renovation of the Xizi UHC Tower which is located at the south side of Qingchun Plaza on East Qingchun Road in Hangzhou. The client stopped the construction of the original building at the 15th floor and turned to us for help to revise the elevation design without changing the major structure. The main building sits at a prominent location, next to the Qingchun Plaza. Since the client, Xizi Union Holdings Limited, is a well-known enterprise with a moderate style, our perception of its image is a sober, introverted but elegant style. This approach received high recognition from the client.

We adopted traditional composition techniques from classical architecture to the elevation design with precise proportion, concise form and exquisite style. With guidance of the classical aesthetic rules, we finally delivered a dignified and elegant building in a modern form with modern materials. The texture and color of the materials, such as metal, glass and stone, were carefully selected and balanced. Decoration details were designed in a free but controlled style.

It is worth mentioning our attempt of designing a "green and low energy consuming building”. By using a number of green and energy-saving technologies such as ice storage device, variable air volume air conditioning system, the comprehensive utilization of solar energy, renewable energy elevators and water treatment system, the building can now save up to 65% of the energy. It was assessed as “The National Top Ten Green Building Design” by the Construction Department of China and the Energy Foundation of the United States.
