Following the launch of Cityscape The Catania·Xuhui in the Longhua district, Cityscape Development has once again joined forces with China Enterprises to unveil its latest project in the heart of Shanghai’s Xuhui area. The new development, The Cityscape The Catania Shanghai, is situated at the core of a key planned medical innovation zone, overlooking the historic Hengfu cultural preservation area to the north and connecting to the Xuhui Riverside development belt to the south. The design task has once again been entrusted to GOA, and the finalized plan has been recently unveiled for public review. Positioned as the pinnacle of the Jabaidao product line, the project adopts an "all-dimensional innovation" concept to explore pathways for urban interface renewal and enhanced living experiences.

Confronted with the realities of high-density cities, the design turns inward for solutions. By subtly rotating residential volumes, deeper landscape vistas are achieved, while creatively overcoming the constraints of a narrow site to naturally enclose a vibrant central three-dimensional green valley. This "Green Valley" integrates landscaping wisdom, intertwining community spaces with terraced gardens, cascading water features, and other scenic elements, creating a dynamic and immersive experience where the scenery shifts with every step. In this way, a contemporary interpretation of "mountain-water dwelling" is realized within a high-density environment.

The architectural facade draws inspiration from the magnolia, Shanghai’s city flower, abstracting its layered petals into a unique double-curved petal-like skin. The design tackles the challenge of integrating free-form aesthetics with precise residential functionality, aligning curved lines with shear walls. This not only creates a striking visual identity but also minimizes interference with indoor spaces, achieving a balance between practicality and artistic expression.

Breaking away from flat street frontages, the design introduces a "folded" form that shapes a series of concave and convex micro-public spaces—such as semi-open tea rooms and shaded resting corners beneath trees. These spaces not only foster commercial vitality but also encourage neighborhood interaction, enabling a warm and lively dialogue between the building and the street.
