Located in the heart of Hangzhou’s Qianjiang New Town, adjacent to the transit-oriented development at Wubao Station, Jingchen Fengqi Center is conceived as a hub for industry and commerce, fostering synergies among finance, digital technology, and commodity trading.
The project occupies a square site bounded by streets on all four sides, where eight buildings form a continuous urban frontage. Subtle variations in massing, achieved through pixelated cuts, establish distinct architectural identities within a cohesive composition. Recessed corners open up the site, drawing pedestrians into the central courtyard and creating an inviting interface with the city.
Inspired by the imagery of layered green mountains, the design translates gently staggered building volumes into peaks and cascading courtyard terraces into valleys, forming a multi-level green landscape. Subtle topographic interventions lift the courtyard edges, creating a seamless transition between ground-level planting and elevated terraces. Together, they form a continuous three-dimensional garden.
Ground-floor retail, additional retail spaces on parts of the second floor, and public plazas establish an active urban podium that serves as an all-day urban living room. A variety of communal spaces extend the workplace beyond conventional office settings. Sculptural spiral staircases and landscaped steps create settings for social interaction and public activities, inviting the surrounding community to engage with the site.
Rooftop photovoltaic panels, sky gardens, and sunken courtyards support China's dual-carbon goals. More than a workplace, the development is conceived as a social landscape that connects individuals and fosters community. By integrating work, leisure, and public life, it creates an all-day destination for office workers while bringing renewed vitality to the district, reinforcing the relationship between economic development and urban livability.
