Ice World Tiantai is located in Tiantai Mountain, a national 5A-level scenic spot that is known for its culture of both Buddhism and Taoism, as well as the beautiful landscape.

Through the re-interpretation of the environment and the unique deduce of the architectural form, this plan organically integrates the Tiantai Ski Resort with the natural mountains. The building facade is inspired by the quality of lotus in the traditional Chinese philosophy "The lotus flower grows out of the mud but it is still clean, and I know your spotless state of mind”. This kind of expression also blends with the Buddhist background of Tiantai.

We use white perforated aluminum plates and solid aluminum plates to form geometric folds, forming abstract "lotus" petals, making it show different light and shade at different times of the day. We will re-apply the "lotus" which is taken from the Nature back to the Nature, for maintain the dialogue between the human activity space and the natural space, dispel the noisy feeling of large-scale sports activities, and try to coordinate with nature as much as possible.

The overall building makes full use of the natural slope of the mountain to arrange the ski slopes, reducing excavation and saving costs. It uses the outdoor platform to adjust different relationship which connects the road, mountain and the second floor of the building, creates a double first floor and viewing platform, and improves the accessibility of the building. At the same time, the façade relationship is divided by the platform, which hides the volume of the building, and integrates the building and the space organically.
